FUNDRAISERS for a Teesside hospital have thanked people who helped raise thousands of pounds for the Holistic Cancer Care Centre.

The Bunty Memorial Fund was set up ten years ago in memory of Jonathan "Bunty" Hunt, from Marton, who died from testicular cancer in The James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, (then South Cleveland) in February 1994, aged 31.

Since then, his local pub, The Brunton Arms, in Marton, has played a charity match in his memory and the two teams have raised £35,000 over the years for the charity.

Angela Duffy, who was Mr Hunt's girlfriend, has helped organise the fundraising events, including an auction. Along with Jeff Metcalfe, a volunteer at the centre on the James Cook site, she wanted to publicly thank everyone involved.

Ms Duffy said: "I just wanted to express my thoughts and thanks to everyone over the years for their continuing support for a really good cause."

Mr Metcalfe said: "The centre relies on constant fundraising to keep us going.

"We're always remembered by Angela and Jonathan's friends and family and it's fantastic they've raised such a huge amount of money over the years."
