YOUNGSTERS will don their shades next week to raise money for charity.

Students at The Norton School, Norton, and visiting students from Finland and Spain will wear their sunglasses as part of The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association's Shades for a Day on Monday.

The youngsters will make a £1 donation to wear their shades, with funds being divided equally between the charity and the school.

The youngsters will also use the day to learn about eye care by taking part in an eye health quiz and the visiting students will get an insight into how schools raise money for themselves, as well as helping charities.

Paul Wray, headteacher, said: "Shades for a Day is a fantastic way to both raise for guide dogs and to teach the youngsters about the importance of eye care.

"We hope our visiting students from Finland and Spain will enjoy the experience. As it is our sports day on Monday, we will be outside for most of the day, so is an ideal opportunity to promote eye safety."
