Cleveland and North Yorkshire League: Great Smeaton did what no other club has done this season. That is to beat the current league champions, Oak Lodge. Great Smeaton were led by scores of 23 from Mike Foster and Gordon Carvey. The final result was 168 to 156.

Urlay Nook had their most impressive away win of the season, when they won at Thimbleby. It was a narrow margin of 3 birds, 188 to 185. The high scoring night was complemented by the only perfect score in the league that night, by William Herdman of Thimbleby.

Stokesley cruised up to third place, where they beat Hardwick Hall 186 to 172. Top performances by Peter Cooksey and Mark Leader of Stokesley and M Midgley of Hardwick Hall, all scoring 24's. After the shoot, the highlight of the night was a presentation to Harry Valentine on his 70's birthday.

Fox Hall were closely chased by Spennymoor, but not beaten. Fox scored 184 to Spennymoors 178. Excellent performances from R Lamb and Dave Lain for Fox and Dave Griffiths and Keith Kipling for Spennymoor. They all top scored with 24's.

On Sunday 11th July the league holds its annual League 70 Bird shoot. This year it is at Oak Lodge Shooting Grounds. Entries are from 10am to 2pm.
