CHILDREN can enjoy a wide range of activities during the school summer holidays.

Craft sessions are being run at Kirkleatham Museum, Redcar, and Margrove Heritage Centre, in Boosbeck, near Guisborough.

The sessions are free and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's sports development team will be offering activities ranging from orienteering to beach games and tennis camps.

The borough council's adult learning service has also organised family learning activities at Kirkleatham Museum on Tuesdays, and Margrove Heritage Centre, on Wednesdays.

Kirkleatham Museum - July 20: Mask workshop, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; July 22: Card-making, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; July 27: Make a brooch, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; July 29: Mobile workshop, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm.

August 5: Make a bracelet, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; August 10: Create a papercraft safari, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; August 12: Make a caterpillar toy, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; August 17: Pop-up cardmaking, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm.

August 19: Mask workshop, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; August 24: Make a bug. Participants are asked to take two two cardboard egg boxes, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; August 26: Make a card, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; August 31: Make a flying bird, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm.

Margrove Heritage Centre - July 21: Celtic bookmark workshop, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; July 23: Make a Viking drinking horn, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; July 28: Create Viking jewellery, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; July 30: Make a mini Viking, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm.

August 4: Create a Viking shield, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; August 6: Make a Viking helmet, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; August 11: Make a woven card, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm.

August 12: Sif the storyteller, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm. August 13: Windvane workshop, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; August 18: Pendant-making, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm.

August 20: Make a mini sledge, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; August 25: Brooch-making 10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm; August 27: Make a Viking longship, 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm; September 1: Turn a pebble into a Viking stone,10am to noon, and 1pm to 3pm.

Sports activities (run by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's sports development team) - July 26 to July 28: Try Sports at Redcar Adult Education Centre, 9am to 3pm; July 30: Orienteering and team games at Flatts Lane Country Park, 10am to 3pm; August 3: Beach games, 10am to 3pm, meet at Majuba car park.

August 4: Bite-size sports at Rye Hill School, Redcar, 9am to 3pm; August 5 and 6: Rugby camp at Redcar RUFC, 10am to 2pm both days. Monday, August 9: Orienteering and beach games, 10am to 3pm, meet at Saltburn Valley Gardens; August 10 and 11: Try Sports at Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough, 9am to 3pm both days.

August 12 and 13: Tennis camp for seven to 11-year-olds at Zetland Park, Redcar, 10am to 3pm both days. August 13: Family fun day at Locke Park, Redcar, 11am to 3pm. August 16: Bite-size sports at Huntcliff School, Saltburn, 9am to 3pm.

August 18: Orienteering and team games at Locke Park, Redcar, 10am to 3pm.August 19 and 20: Tennis camp for 11 to 15-year-olds at Zetland Park, Redcar, 10am to 3pm both days.
