FINISHING touches are being made to Cleveland's biggest outdoor event of the summer - the annual Saltburn Swashbuckle.

Sunday's extravaganza on the beach will include sand sculptures, traditional Punch and Judy, stilt walkers, circus skills, tai chi and samba music.

Children from three Redcar schools - Wheatlands and John Emmerson Batty primary schools and West Redcar Community School - have been practising the Brazilian beat under the guidance of Brazilian percussionist Claudio Kron. They will play trumpets, trombones, saxophones, flutes and drums near Saltburn Pier from noon to 5.30pm on Sunday.

Mr Kron will also be appearing in a Latin music event next Friday.

The organisation C-Moon, a group that aims to help people suffering from depression and isolation, is organising the event, featuring Mr Kron and guests in a Brazilian, aboriginal and British music evening.

Tickets are £6.50 for adults, £4.50 concessions, and are available from Kings of Saltburn, the Health Food Shop and Jolly Sailors Playgroup, in Saltburn.

Proceeds from the evening will help fund C-Moon projects in the community.
