Durham Coast League: There is no change at the top of the table after the three leading contestants won both games in the double weekend programme.

Leaders Murton followed up Saturday's eight-wicket win at Houghton defeating Easington by a similar margin when they were required to score only 115.

Calvin Stephenson, Keith Chapman and Shaun Smith dominated the visitors' innings and Richard Lowes, with an unbeaten 44 and Jonathan Vout (27 not out) completed the task.

Silksworth are 16 points adrift. They romped to a comfortable win at Peterlee, but found it a lot more difficult against Bill Quay when they conceded six wickets making a match-winning 84.

Shoaib Akhtar struck 93 and took 7-36 in third-top Dawdon's win over Peterlee who at one stage threatened to hold up the home side's drive for the championship.

Ryhope were another side to win twice overtaking Houghton's 194 which included 43 by Paul Elliott, 48 by Gary Robinson and 43 from skipper Ian Hauxwell. Graeme Anderson with 90 and John Minniss (64) were the principal scorers for Ryhope.

Michael Higgin (84 not out) and Jonathan Malkin (36) led Castle Eden to a nine-wicket win over Boldon CA, which was also their second of the weekend while Hylton, whose game on Saturday was washed out, saw off the challenge from Seaham Park when Keith Trotter and Stephen Merrington shared eight wicket before Gary Braithwaite struck an unbeaten 76 in a nine-wickets victory.

In Saturday's programme, Richard Lowes (57 not out) and Shaun Smith with an unbeaten 42 led Murton's chase for runs at Houghton. Phil Grimwood, Calvin Stephenson and Keith Chapman restricted the hosts to 147-9 which included 41 by Gary Robinson before Murton won in quick time losing just two wickets.

Chris Ford top-scored with 62 but Peterlee's total of 153 proved insufficient as Silksworth romped to a nine-wicket victory. Skipper David Tate set the scene with an unbeaten 78 and Smailes ended unbeaten on 50.

Shoaib Akhtar was again in outstanding form with bat and ball in Dawdon's 153-run win at Easington. His undefeated 125 and 91 from Michael Watson propelled the visitors to 243-3. Akhtar (4-58) and Mark Ewart (5-26) did the damage when the home side were sent back for 90.

Paul Watson was another to take five wickets, at a cost of 65 runs in Ryhope's four-wicket victory at Boldon CA where he was assisted in the attack by Graeme Smith with 4-43. Boldon's modest 122 included 43 by David Jones before Ryhope had to work hard for runs as Christopher Allen took four wickets for 48. David Hanson's 36 was crucial to Ryhope's success.

Seaham Park were all out for 71 and almost half the runs came from David Morton with 34. Man of the match was Castle Eden's Allan Unsworth who after claiming 5-23, hit an unbeaten 44 in his team's seven-wicket win.

Rain prevented any play in the fixture between Bill Quay and Hylton.
