Two children have been arrested for violent disorder, following an incident involving armed police at the seaside town of Saltburn, east Cleveland.

A 13-year-old and a 15-year-old boy are being questioned by police and are today in custody along with a 40-year-old and 36-year-old man.

The 13-year-old boy and the two men were arrested at a house in Amber Street, Saltburn, where the 40-year-old had climbed on to the roof. Trained police negotiators were called in.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested in Middlesbrough where he was treated at the town's James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, for a cut finger.

Police were called to Amber Street, late on Monday night, following a disturbance in the street when it was alleged a Chinese man was attacked.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said an armed response team attended the scene as a matter of course. A knife was later recovered from the guttering of the house.
