TIME is running out for voters to register for the referendum on regional government in the North-East.
Sunderland has been chosen as the main centre for the count and the city council's chief executive, Ged Fitzgerald, has been appointed chief counting officer for the region. He acted as regional returning officer for the North-East during June's European elections.
Sunderland residents have until Wednesday to get their names on the electoral roll for the vote, which takes place in November.
Elections officer Bill Crawford said: "Anyone who has moved address since they last registered should heed this advice and take action straight away. Anyone who misses that date may still be able to obtain their vote - but it would be sent to their old address and that may not be very convenient."
