Darren Lehmann returns to boost Yorkshire Phoenix in their day-night match against Derbyshire Scorpions at Headingley today when a win is badly needed in order to claw their way back into the totesport League promotion race.

Yorkshire still have to play Scorpions home and away and they are looking to do the double against a side which is floundering next to the bottom of the table.

But Derbyshire are becoming a much tougher and better disciplined outfit under director of cricket, Dave Houghton, the former Zimbabwe coach, and the two sides were evenly matched in the tense Championship draw at Derby recently.

Lehmann has now fully recovered from the back inflammation which kept him out of action for a week and his return is welcomed by director of cricket, David Byas.

"It is a hard game which we must win and having Darren fit again is a big plus," said Byas.

"We now have a very hectic period of cricket right up to the end of the season and it is important that we start off on the right note and maintain the momentum."

Yorkshire were without a match last week and although Byas would have much preferred his side to be playing cricket during the fine weather, the break at least gave Anthony McGrath time to recover from the finger which he dislocated while fielding against Middlesex Crusaders at Southgate last Sunday.

Despite the injury, McGrath still went out and hit an unbeaten 96 when it was Yorkshire's turn to bat and it was this continuation of his excellent form that decided England to pick him for next month's ICC Champions Trophy competition.

McGrath has not batted or bowled since the injury but he is planning to have a full net today.

Yorkshire remain without leading strike bowler, Chris Silverwood, who had an injection in his sore heel last Wednesday.

Silverwood will play for Yorkshire Seconds in their Championship match against Lancashire Seconds which starts at Blackpool tomorrow and if he comes through all right he will be considered for Yorkshire's totesport and Championship visits to Leicestershire next week.

Yorkshire will meet up with Derbyshire again in the Championship at Headingley on Thursday when left-hander Andrew Gale will be added to the squad.
