COMPETITORS from across North Yorkshire are expected to take part in a vintage car event later this month.

In total, 140 cars have entered the competition, at Harewood Hillclimb course, near Leeds on August 21.

Taking part will be Bryan Gill, from Bedale, with an ex-works supercharged 1930 Lea-Francis Hyper, and James Brittain, from Northallerton, in his 1934 Riley 12/4.

The meeting is the culmination of a week of vintage car events centred on the Great Yorkshire Showground, in Harrogate, to celebrate 70 years of the Vintage Sports Car Club.

From Monday, enthusiasts will be touring and rallying in North Yorkshire, competing at Elvington, with a grand gathering at the Harrogate showground on August 20.

Admission to the Harewood Hillclimb event costs £8.
