CARDIFF boss Lennie Lawrence last night admitted a move for Adam Boyd is in his thoughts, writes NICK LOUGHLIN.

Lawrence is looking to sign at least three new players least three players ahead of his team's next Championship game at Nottingham Forest a week tomorrow.

And, with the need for a striker a priority after the departure of Rob Earnshaw to West Brom for £3m last week, Boyd is high on his wanted list.

"He's a decent player and yes we have an interest in him," said Lawrence, who is also pondering over a move for Swindon's Sam Parkin and West Brom's Rob Hulse.

Boyd's agent was behind the deal which took Lee Bullock from York to Ninian Park.

And, with Sunderland also interested in a player who has 14 goals in his last 16 league games, Pool are facing up to the prospect of tomorrow's game with Barnsley at Victoria Park being his last for his home-town club.

Meanwhile, midfielder Tony Sweeney admits Monday's home win over Colchester was exactly what was needed after losing at Swindon 48 hours earlier.

Pool triumphed 2-1 and Sweeney said: "Monday was a much better performance. We were up against a strong and organised team in Colchester, who have started the season well.

"But we were the better team and I thought we played some good stuff and deserved the win.

"Boydy's header made us that little it more comfortable and the second goal was welcome.''
