AN UNWANTED dog's 14-month wait for a new home looks to be over - thanks to The Northern Echo.
Cross bred Roly has spent almost all his life in kennels.
The two-year-old became the longest-serving resident of Deerness Kennels at Langley Moor, Durham City.
However, after an appeal in The Northern Echo last month, hopes are now high that Roly may have found a new owner.
"After the article we had three people come forward looking to take Roly," said a spokeswoman for the RSPCA.
"We have now put him out on trial to a lady from Durham City and she is delighted with him so, fingers crossed, it's looking good for him." Meanwhile, volunteers are now hoping to find homes for two other long-term guests of the kennels, Alfie and Hooch.
Both are cross bred dogs with an easy temperament and have also been at the kennels for several months.
Anyone who is interested in giving either a home can call into Deerness Kennels, in Mill Road, Langley Moor from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and until 1.30pm on Saturday or call 0191-378 0439.
