BISHOP Auckland failed to hold the lead again as they went down 2-1 at Prescot Cables on Saturday.

Bishops did well in the first half, but Prescot stormed back after the break to leave Bishops still without a win so far this season. Manager Brian Honour said: "I'm disappointed that we surrendered the lead again.

"But again, I was encouraged by the way the players kept battling away - and we've still got several players to come back after injury."

Steve Torpey hit the post for Prescot, but Bishops took the lead when new loan signing Karl Richards, from Hartlepool, scored from a Chris Moore cross.

But Prescot levelled through David Chadwick from a free kick after 61 minutes, and two minutes later Sam McNutt got the winner.

Bishops are at home to second-placed Workington on Wednesday night at the Brewery Field.

Spennymoor drew 0-0 with Marine at the Brewery Field in what general manager Tony Lee described as a "drab" encounter. "I thought that Marine broke the game up too much," said Lee.

Moors had a couple of good chances to take the lead through Jon Cullen and Tommy Raw, while Moors keeper Darren Horrigan pulled off a fingertip save from Steve Whitehall.

Moors' next game is at Blyth on Tuesday night.

Gateshead were beaten 1-0 at the International Stadium by Radcliffe Borough.

Whitby lost 4-1 at home to Burscough, despite taking the lead through Graham Robinson.
