Sharon McDonald, a receptionist at Hurworth doctors' surgery, near Darlington, scored the maximum amount possible when she sat her dispensing exams.
Ms McDonald gained a distinction in the 45-hour Vantage dispensing assistant's course.
She said: "I have been working in community pharmacy for the past 12 years, but I was delighted to pass this course which recognises I have the skills and knowledge to do my job efficiently.
