A former Chester-le-Street school pupil has successfully completed his initial training at HMS Raleigh in Plymouth.
Ross Atkinson, 17, joined the Navy in June after sitting his GCSEs at Park View School.
His proud family, including grandparents George and Nora Atkinson, of Elmway, Hilda Park, Chester-le-Street, made the long journey south to see Ross take part in his 'Passing In' parade.
He has now been transferred to the Naval base at Gosport, Portsmouth.
