Award-winning comedians Brendan Healy and Maxie and Mitch will top the bill in one of the region's pantomimes this winter.

Glamour will be provided by actress/singer Stephanie Constable and Steel River Blues star Vicki Hawkins in the production of Cinderella at the Tyne Theatre, in Newcastle.

Comedy duo Maxie and Mitch will take up the mantle as the Ugliest Sisters ever to take to the stage, while fellow comic Brendan Healy is to play Cinders' best friend Buttons.

More comedy will come from pantomime stalwart Kevin O'Keefe, as Baron Hardup, while Vicki Hawkins takes a break from television show Steel River Blues to appear as Prince Charming's loyal servant Dandini.

Director Mr Healy said: "The whole panto team is united in one common goal, to bring traditional pantomime to the families of the North-East.

"That means lots of audience participation, lots of silliness and surprises for the kids and we promise it will be the best night out anyone will have this Christmas."

Cinderella will run from Thursday December 9 to Saturday, January 8, at the theatre, in Westgate Road, Newcastle.

Tickets cost between £6.50 and £15.00 and can be booked by calling the ticket hotline on 0870 145 1200.
