Darlington skipper Craig Liddle will make his return in the FA Cup next week.

Manager David Hodgson has confirmed that Liddle is winning his battle to be fit in time to face Yeovil Town in the first round on November 13.

Liddle has not started a competitive game since September after it was discovered the 33-year-old had an unusual defect in his leg. Following tests at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall it was diagnosed that Liddle had one leg weaker than the other.

However, after undergoing an intense fitness programme, the former Middlesbrough defender is close to recovery.

"If Craig had his way he would be back sooner but we can't take any risks," said Hodgson.

"He's not far off now and I'm pretty confident he'll be back for the Yeovil game."

Defender Curtis Fleming is making good progress from a knee injury and is scheduled to return for the visit of Lincoln City on November 20.

Hodgson has shelved plans to bring a defender in on loan.

Meanwhile, the future of striker Clyde Wijnhard could be resolved this week after the player's agent held talks with Hodgson on Monday.

Peter Harrison, a close friend of Hodgson, represents Wijnhard and recently returned from business in Dubai.

"Clyde's agent has only just came back from business overseas so hopefully we can get the ball rolling," revealed Hodgson.

"I spoke to Peter (Harrison) on Monday night and I am hoping to speak to him again before the end of the week."

Wijnhard has made an instant impact at the Williamson Motors Stadium, scoring four goals in five appearances since joining the club on a pay-as-you-play basis last month.

"Clyde loves it here so there shouldn't be a problem," added Hodgson.
