Clyde Wijnhard could quit Darlington this week after Bradford City declared their interest in the Dutch striker.

Quakers have tried to convince Wijnhard to sign a longer contract, but since arriving at the beginning of last month he's been keeping his options open and will hold talks with Bradford this week.

Following a year in Portuguese football, and despite courting the attentions of several Football League clubs, it was Darlington who offered him a route back into English football.

Saturday's game was his sixth - and least effective - in Darlington colours and manager David Hodgson said of the four-goal striker: "The situation is that he's only on a match-to-match contract and for the last month we have been trying to get Clyde tied down to a longer term deal.

"Clyde and his agent are going to speak to a club next week and we shall have to hope he realises the grass isn't always greener on the other side."

Bradford are much closer to home for the Leeds-based Dutchman while they can also offer a promotion push to the Coca Cola Championship.

Wijnhard could end up playing against Rushden again as Bradford play them in the first round of the FA Cup on Saturday, while Quakers face Yeovil with the possibility of a striker crisis looming.

With Wijnhard possibly joining Bradford, Craig Hignett out for two or three weeks with a pulled hamstring, and Alun Armstrong suffering a dead leg, Hodgson could have problems.

He has hinted there will be a new face in the ranks this week and has had the impressively named Greek striker, Grigalevicius Mindaugas, on trial.

Armstrong has a history of injury problems and had he played on Saturday it would have been the first time since the 1997-98 season, when at Stockport County, that he'd started eight consecutive league games.

* Midfielder Adrian Webster made his Darlington debut on Saturday, replacing goalscorer Craig Hignett for the last eight minutes.

Having impressed in Quakers' reserve team this season, the youngster has signed a short-term deal and arrives after spells in non-league at Maidstone and Margate after starting his career at Charlton Athletic.

* Scunthorpe stayed two points clear at the top of the Coca-Cola League Two table with a 2-0 win at home to ten-man Grimsby.

Paul Hayes scored a goal in each half, while the Mariners had Jon Daly red-carded for violent conduct in the first half.

Leyton Orient lost ground after being held to a 1-1 draw at Chester. Lee Steele put the Londoners ahead Cortez Belle equalised seven minutes from the end.
