SCHOOL staff and pupils slipped out in their nightwear yesterday to take part in a cross-country run for charity.

Runners made their way across fields around Longfield School, Darlington, in their pyjamas and night gowns, and collected about £100 for Children in Need.

The sponsored run was organised by 13-year-old Keeley Barkley and Anna O'Shaughnessy, of the PE department. Keeley helped come up with the idea at a school council meeting.

Gail Smith, school council co-ordinator, said: "The children decided they wanted to do this for Children in Need and, in the end, lots of pupils and staff took part.

"It was great fun and everyone enjoyed themselves. We will continue to raise money during the week for the charity."
