BINGO players in Darlington raised £225 for a breast cancer charity.

Customers at the Top Ten Bingo Club bought pink ribbons, put loose change into collecting tins and played free games of bingo, donating cash for their tickets.

Club manager Bill Richardson said: "This was a great result.

"The staff did their best throughout the week to keep the awareness of the campaign going and I'd like to say a very big thank you to all our members for their support."

Bingo for Breakthrough is a national appeal to raise funds for the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

It was organised in conjunction with The Bingo Association and ran in clubs across the UK.

More than 1,000 women die of breast cancer every month in the UK and the charity needs at least £10m each year to fund its research and awareness work
