PATIENTS are being given a say on the future of health services in Darlington.

Darlington Primary Care Trust has appointed Fiona Anderson as its new public partnerships facilitator. She will be responsible for ensuring the health service responds to people's needs.

Ms Anderson, of Langley Park, Durham, said: "I'll be making sure patients have a voice and are involved in the decision making about their health care.

"To do this, I will be working with social services departments, the voluntary sector and community groups."

She will also liaise with the Expert Patient Programme, the project to help people with chronic illnesses manage their symptoms, and organise information days.

Ms Anderson has a masters degree in applied social science. She said: "Working with people gives you a reality check and reminds you just why you are here."
