THEATRE bosses are celebrating after pantomime ticket sales topped 50,000.
York Theatre Royal's production of Sleeping Beauty has now sold the equivalent of almost 60 sell-out shows.
Damian Cruden, the theatre's artistic director, said: "The fact that we have sold so many seats proves once again just how special the York Theatre Royal pantomime is to many people."
Last year's production was also a success, smashing attendance records.
A total of 53,000 people went to the venue to watch Mother Goose.
Sleeping Beauty will continue until Saturday.
