POLICE closed a Consett Road yesterday afternoon after a lorry hit a lamppost.
Although no-one was injured, the collision left the lamppost hanging at a 45-degree angle across Benfieldside Road in Blackhill.
Highways officers were called to maintain the road closure so police officers could return to their duties following the accident at 1.20pm.
NEDL engineers attended and estimated removal of the damaged lamppost would take until 11pm last night to be completed.
