INCREASE your business by obtaining local produce - that was the message presented at the launch of a campaign to put more regional produce on Yorkshire breakfast tables.

Deliciouslyorkshire was launched at Castle Howard, which is already a member of the breakfast scheme, and it invites bed and breakfast business owners and hoteliers to buy locally.

With its own logo, and new web site, produce directory, and breakfast guide, along with special menus, Deliciouslyorkshire is the brand identity for the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber.

It was created to give credibility to regional food and drink producers and replaces the former name, Yorkshire Pantry.

Launched alongside the Yorkshire Tourist Board, the campaign aims to attract hoteliers, restaurants and bed and breakfasts to lead the way by signing up to a scheme promising to put more locally-made produce into their breakfasts.

Members will have a certificate and listing in a guide which identifies that they obtain at least five ingredients on the breakfast menu from local and regional producers, showing that the establishment supports Yorkshire and Humber Businesses and drives the local economy.

Represented at the launch by their top chefs, along with others, were founder members Dean Court, North Yorkshire; Hazlewood Castle, near Leeds; the Feversham Arms, North Yorkshire; Crown Hotel, Bawtry; Pleasant Hotel, Doncaster; Tickton Grange, Beverley; Angel Inn, Hetton, Yorkshire Dales and Wood Hall, Linton, West Yorkshire. They were also presented with certificates to hang in their establishments.

The Hon Simon Howard, his wife, Rebecca, and Britain's hottest young chef, Anthony Flinn, helped with the launch.

Karen Carlyle, Regional Food Group's executive director, said: "We believe Yorkshire food, like Yorkshire hospitality, is the best in the country. Our research shows that visitors are very keen to eat locally and really respond to knowing more about how the food is produced and where it comes from.

"By buying locally, you will be supporting Yorkshire businesses, minimising the waste caused by shipping in food from miles away and fuelling your body with delicious, top-quality produce."
