TEENAGER Sasha Dudden is bringing a touch of Russia to the unlikely setting of a North-East town.

Amid the fish and chip shops, takeaways and pubs dotted around Bishop Auckland, County Durham, 16-year-old Sasha will today open the Red Square Caf.

But the young Russian entrepreneur will not be serving up Soviet grub in his caf, which is painted and furnished in red and has the hammer and sickle on its windows.

Instead, he will concentrate on the traditional English breakfast.

Sasha and mother Victoria, who married local businessman Bob Dudden three years ago, believe they have identified a market for "a proper workingman's breakfast".

The teenager, who will be doing all the cooking, has not ruled out dishing up typical Russian breakfasts, sandwiches made from red or black caviar, to customers in the future.

Sasha dreamed up the idea of running a caf while taking a course in business studies after leaving Ferryhill Comprehensive School, in south Durham.

The caf will open in Bishop Auckland's busy Newgate Street.

Mr Dudden said: "We are very proud that he has managed to achieve so much for someone so young.

"He deserves all the help we can give him."
