FORMER Fiji sevens star Waisele Serevi stands between Westoe and a trip to Twickenham.

The elusive winger, who had a spell with Leicester, now plays for Staines along with former England No 8 Chris Sheasby.

Westoe have been drawn away to the London club in the semi-finals of the Powergen Intermediate Cup on March 5, but will be reassured to know that Staines managed only a 31-31 draw with Shelford in a recent league match.

Under player-coach Richard Arnold, the former Newcastle Falcons flanker, Westoe won their fifth round tie 24-11 at Shelford on Saturday.

* Blaydon's Brian Juliffe has been named as National Three North's Coach of the Month for January, while scrum half Nick Williams was third in the Player of the Month awards.

A former Rugby League man who played for Wakefield, Wigan and Halifax and appeared in four Challenge Cup finals at Wembley, Juliffe is in his first season with Blaydon.

He is assisted in the coaching by skipper Dave Guthrie, who missed Saturday's defeat by Darlington Mowden Park through injury. Prior to that Blaydon had won six of their last seven games following a run of six successive defeats.

* The World Cup will be back in Durham on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, March 25 and 26. The county committee are planning to use the Webb Ellis Trophy's presence on the Friday to revive Washington Rugby Club, while the following day a Durham Sweet Chariot XV will play Northumberland at Gateshead.

Durham have announced their programme for the revamped County Championship this season, with a warm-up match against county president Robin Wannop's club, Ryton, on Sunday, May 1.

Home games against Oxfordshire and Cumbria will be played at Gateshead (May 7) and Blackwell Meadows, Darlington (May 21), with a trip to Stourbridge to face North Midlands on May 14.

The county shield final will be at Twickenham on May 28.
