A JOINERY company has clinched a trio of contracts worth more than £3m.

Taylor, based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, announced last night that it had won the contracts with Bovis Lend Lease - which would help to ensure the continued employment of the company's 100 workers.

The contracts are to carry out joinery for a new wing at Burnley Hospital, to fit facilities throughout public and staff areas in an extension to the Arndale shopping centre in Manchester, and to fit out an expresso bar at the new John Lewis store, in Manchester's Trafford Centre.

The development being undertaken by Bovis at Burnley is a £27m contract to build several new wards which will house a renal unit, a dermatology unit, a rehabilitation unit and a stroke ward.

Taylor's job is to make and install doors, wall protection rails, cupboard fittings and curtain tracks - work which is worth more than £1.25m.

In Manchester, Bovis is rebuilding the northern extension of the Arndale Centre in a contract totalling £150m. Taylor will be fitting out public areas, including toilet and washroom areas, plus staff facilities in a contract valued at £1.25m.

At Trafford Park, where Taylor completed a £4.75m contract for making and installing doors, the fitting of the toilet areas and the management suite of the main building, the company is now fitting out the brasserie and expresso bar at the new John Lewis store.

Alistair Campbell, the managing director of Taylor, said that he had a strong working relationship with Bovis, having worked with the company on hospitals in Halifax and the Isle of Man, and also on the Lowry Cente in Manchester.

"These contracts ensure the ongoing employment of our 100-plus workforce in Harrogate, which is great news for the town," said Mr Campbell.
