YOUNGSTERS who won a competition designed to encourage them to drink water instead of fizzy drinks have been presented with their prizes.

Yorkshire Water ran the competition on its Cool Fuel website. The six children with the highest scores for successfully guiding a thirsty clam character around an online maze each received a water cooler for their schools.

Top of the class was Gladstone School, in Scarborough, with 35,160 points. As a special reward, their cooler was signed by Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh, who launched the website in October.

Scarborough MP Lawrie Quinn presented the youngsters with their prizes in a ceremony held at the town's SeaLife Centre.

The Yorkshire Water Cool Schools campaign was launched three years ago. Since then, more than 600 coolers have been installed in 350 schools across Yorkshire.
