THERE are more Google website hits for Durham City than for any other town or city in the county.
Typing Durham City in the Google search engine produces four million results.
The town with the second highest number of results in the county was Darlington, way behind on 397,000 hits.
Third was Stanley, in County Durham, with 311,000, followed by Bishop Auckland, with 149,000, Barnard Castle, with 104,000, Consett, with 84,000 and Seaham, with 68,500.
On Teesside, Middlesbrough had 2,930,000 results, Hartlepool 1,480,000, Stockton 813,000 and Redcar 694,000. In North Yorkshire, Richmond was mentioned on 750,000 sites and Northallerton on 164,000.
