PARENTS have been kept busy working on a project that celebrates life in their community.
Those taking part have redesigned and redecorated the community room at Hemlington Library, with help from the local Sure Start programme.
Drawing inspiration from their surroundings, the parents designed an interactive display depicting the area's unique feature, Hemlington Lake.
Programme manager Lynn Lang said: "The parents have really made this their room and given it a local feel.
"Getting parents involved in planning projects like this is all part of Sure Start's local service and we hope that other parents will come along and use the facilities and also see how we can help them."
The room caters for a wide range of local groups, including the Citizens' Advice Bureau, the adult learning service, a community arts group, Homestart and Sure Start for Hemlington and Newham.
