VOLUNTEERS from ethnic minorities received recognition for their contribution to community development at an event last night.
The awards ceremony, which took place at Arc in Stockton, is the culmination of a project to help black and minority ethnic people, including refugees and asylum seekers, into volunteering.
The project, started three years ago, has provided a range of volunteering opportunities to more than 200 volunteers from Stockton and the surrounding areas.
The scheme has been run by Stockton Voluntary Development Agency in partnership with Stockton International Family Centre.
