A TOURING exhibition of wartime memorabilia is being put together by the North Yorkshire Records Office.

The display will go on show at the office on Malpas Road, Northallerton, before being taken around the county.

It is part of the BBC's People's War project, which is commemorating the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War through an online archive of people's memories.

In Northallerton, five days have been set aside for people to have their wartime recollections recorded.

People can visit the records office from March 14 to 18 and speak to members of Northallerton and District Local History Society, who are being trained to interview local people.

The stories will be used both for local archives and for the BBC project. Anyone who would like to get involved can telephone the record office on (01609) 777585 to make an appointment to be interviewed.

Anyone with memorabilia to loan may also ring the same number.
