MIDDLESBROUGH-Mandale's Rob Cole won the North Yorkshire and South Durham Harrier League senior men's title by one point when he finished third overall in the sixth and final meeting of the season at Richmond.
The 8.5K race, over heavy ground, was won by Paul Lowe, but the North York Moors AC runner started with two points fewer than the leader.
With veteran Jon Orange, of host club Richmond and Zetland Harriers, in second place Cole collected 14 points to take his total to 70, one more than Lowe. Hartlepool Burn Road Harriers clinched the team title.
The women's title had already been won by defending champion Bernadette Taylor, who chose not to run, and in her absence the women's 5K event was won by Darlington clubmate Marie Stansmore, who beat Quakers' Dawn Richardson by a comfortable 23 seconds, with Middlesbrough and Cleveland winning the team title.
