A WOMAN told a court yesterday how she was told her mother would be raped if she did not submit to sex.

The woman, who cannot be named, claims she was ordered to submit to sex with John Gibson, 41, during a four-month campaign or else he would show naked pictures of her to her family and work colleagues.

Jurors at Newcastle Crown Court have been played a video which the prosecution says shows Gibson raping the woman at his home on February 1 last year.

Robin Patton, prosecuting, told the court how the footage was captured using a secret recording device hidden in his bedroom.

The woman wept yesterday as she told the court how she had received a telephone call from Gibson ordering her to go to his house.

She said: "He rang me and said if I didn't go down he was going to go and rape my mam."

Mr Patton asked if she had wanted to go to visit Gibson at his home in Oak Crescent, Whitburn, and she said: "No but I was scared of what would happen if I didn't go."

Gibson denies ten charges of rape between October 12 2003 and February 1 2003.

He also denies a charge of harassment between September 1 2003 and February 1 last year.

He said he set up the secret recording device because he suspected someone was stealing money from him.

The trial continues.
