STUDENTS who have attended all their lessons this term will be treated like stars tomorrow when they are driven home from college in a stretch limousine.
The six students from King James I Community College, in Bishop Auckland, have not missed a lesson since the beginning of term in January and will reap the rewards as part of the Reach project to improve attendance.
Jane Alston, project organiser, said: "Our project seeks to encourage and reward good attendance and offers prizes for 100 per cent attenders and those making the best improvements."
The college is one of three comprehensives and nine primary schools in Bishop Auckland which have launched the project as part of a wider behaviour improvement programme.
Pupils at the 12 schools can win prizes for full attendance every few weeks, ranging from books and CD vouchers to match tickets and the limousine ride.
Mrs Alston said: "Attendance at school is very important, and it is something we work hard to impress upon our students and their parents too."
