A MOBILE youth club packed with the latest technology is being launched to give teenagers in Derwentside something to do.
The bus, called Ellie, is kitted out with a DVD, video and TV, PlayStation 2 and laptop computers as well as top-of-the-range decks for aspiring DJs.
It is a £50,000 dream machine devised by members of the Spice Project, young people from the district who have a say on issues facing young people.
Nigel Hogg, project manager, said: "There are not many youth initiatives in the area and this picks out where young people are hanging out, such as in bus shelters and on street corners. Some are not interested in existing youth clubs so if we pull up we might just get their interest."
The service is free for those aged 11-19 and also carries sports equipment for outdoor games. Information on drugs and sexual health will also be available.
From Friday next week, Ellie will be in Blackhill on Mondays, Stanley Town Centre on Tuesdays, Burnopfield on Wednesdays and Consett Town Centre on Thursdays.
