DALE WALK: Archaeologists Dr Tom Gledhill and Ros Nichol will lead a free five-mile walk exploring the archaeological landscape of Upper Teesdale from 10.30am on Saturday, March 19, starting at the end of the road that leads through Holwick village (GR 904 270). Strong shoes and packed lunch are recommended, and the walk is unsuitable for young children. To take part, call (01833) 622374.
RAISING CASH: Lyrics Youth Choir will host a musical coffee morning on Saturday at Ceddesfeld Hall, from 10am to noon. Entry is £2. There will also be an evening concert in the hall, at 7.30pm. Admission is £4 or £3 concessions. Proceeds will be donated to Fisherfolk Aid, to help fishing communities hit by the Asian tsunami.
CAR BOOT: A car boot sale is to be held at Winston, near Barnard Castle, in aid of the village playing field on Sunday, April 24. Places can be booked by calling (01833) 660250 after 6pm.
U3A MEETING: The next meeting of the Wear Tees U3A is on Tuesday, at 10am for 10.30am, in Bishop Auckland Town Hall, with guest speaker John Waiting, who will give a talk called Waiting at Durham Tees Valley Airport.
