PLANS to build a sports centre at Malton School have been backed by Ryedale District Council.
Members of the council endorsed the proposals and have urged people living in Ryedale to have their say on the issue at a consultation day, next Saturday, at Milton Rooms, Malton, from 9am to 4pm.
The site at Malton School was chosen after three separate studies, costing £64,000. Two other sites were also assessed - land owned by the Fitzwilliam Estate between Old Malton Road and the River Derwent, and the old Woolgrowers site, in Park Road, Norton.
