A TEENAGER has admitted a series of firebombings which were carried out on a mosque, Chinese takeaway and pizza shop.

Roy Fisher, 16, of Major Street, Darlington, pleaded guilty to three counts of arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered following an appearance at Teesside Crown Court.

The offences relate to attacks which caused damage to the Jamia Mosque in North Lodge Terrace, Yings Takeaway in Major Street, and the Pizza Box at 143 Northgate, all Darlington, on January 14, 15 and 16 respectively.

His co-defendant Matthew Howells, 19, of Willow Road East, Darlington, has denied the offences and will be tried at a later date.

Judge Peter Bowers adjourned the case and remanded both teenagers in custody.

There was no application for bail for either defendant.
