STUDENTS from Barnard Castle School are performing the Sound of Music this week.
The musical has taken six months to produce and stars children aged eight to 18 and has been put together by teacher Paul Johnson.
Mr Johnson said: "I was asked by the children about a year ago whether we could stage the Sound of Music.
"It's a nice coincidence that the musical is in the news at the moment as it is being produced in Austria for the very first time - though it does sound strange being sung in German." There are performances today, tomorrow and Thursday.
