A VILLAGE school is to get security cameras after being targeted by vandals for the third time in recent weeks.
Eight windows were smashed at Hurworth Primary School, near Darlington, over the weekend.
Windows were also broken on two recent occasions.
Headteacher Mark Allinson wants closed-circuit television cameras installed around the school, in Westfield Drive, Hurworth. He said: "We are fed up. We are considering what to do next and it looks like security cameras are the next port of call.
"We are spending money on replacing windows and if we can stop that spending by investing in security cameras it makes it financially viable for us to do that."
This weekend's damage has been caused by someone kicking a football at the windows.
Mr Allinson said: "It took the caretaker the best part of three hours to clean up. Apart from anything, there is a health and safety issue when you have glass where young children are going to be working."
Anyone with information about the incident, believed to have happened between Saturday and Sunday afternoon, can call Darlington police on 0845 60 60 365.
