Paul Vacklik, managing director of Broadmedia Technology Limited, in North Shields, North Tyneside, has been elected chairman of the Codeworks Nitro Advisory Board.
Codeworks Nitro helps North-East-based small and medium-sized businesses in the digital media sectors to get expert advice, research expertise and facilities from Northumbria, Newcastle, Teesside and Sunderland Universities.
Mr Vaclik brings ten years' senior IT and company management experience to the role - much of that spent at Proctor and Gamble - where he was responsible for the technical delivery and deployment of the first fully interactive marketing campaign.
His company, Broadmedia Technology Limited, specialises in the development of marketing on the Internet and other media.
He takes over from Paul Campbell, of The Amazing Group.
Mr Vaclik said: "Information Technology underpins just about everything that we do in business today.
Our region has a gold mine of knowledge and experience in a highly concentrated group of Universities with an excellent track record in IT research and teaching. Codeworks Nitro delivers that resource to SMEs in a highly cost-effective package."
