TWO purses were snatched from the handbags of elderly shoppers in Bishop Auckland town centre.
The women, aged between 60 and 70, had their purses stolen when they were out shopping in Newgate Street, on Saturday morning.
Police are now warning people to be extra vigilant and for women to fasten their handbags when they are out and about.
