MONTGOMERY the dog has been registered to vote at the General Election.
The golden labrador has received notice that he is officially on the electoral roll and can make his mark on election day.
His owners, Norman and Susan Montgomery, who live near Scarborough, North Yorkshire, have vowed the dog will exercise his democratic right and vote.
Mr Montgomery said: "He probably knows about as much about politics as I do. I do not know whether it was an error at our end or the council's end, but he has got the form all right."
A Scarborough Borough Council spokesman said the Montgomerys had put the animal's name down to be registered and that the authority had to take information given at face value.
