A MUSIC resource centre is aiming for the charts with the release of a Band Aid-style single for a North-East charity.

Stanley-based talentSTAR has unveiled plans to release a charity single featuring the finalists from their tour of 40 North-East comprehensive schools.

Profits from the release will go to Metro Radio's Just For Kids charity, which supports children in the region who suffer neglect, are disabled, have special needs or simply need extra care or guidance.

Adam Chetter, of talentSTAR, said: "It's a huge opportunity for the finalists of the tour to appear on the single, which we are hoping will make the Top 40.

"We estimate that about 2,500 singles need to be sold within the first week for it to chart so we are hoping that the public like the single and go out and support it."

The resource, run by Genius Entertainment, aims to launch the single on June 26 at the talentSTAR Final. The single will also go on sale in stores that day.

Songwriters have given up royalties for the single, which is called More Than The Need, and which will be recorded at Tanfield Lea-based White Wolf Recording Studios at the end of May, where producers have given their time to the project free.
