Proposals for a new amalgamated primary school for 420 pupils, with a 39-place nursery and SureStart facility for 67 youngsters, look set to get the go-ahead.
Should approval for the development, in Barnes Road, Murton, east Durham be granted by Durham County Council's planning committee, on Wednesday, work would start in June, to be completed by September next year.
* An application has been lodged with Durham City Council to convert the former Rainton Gate Methodist Chapel, in Chapel View, West Rainton, near Durham.
Wilkinson Maintenance Limited, of Birtley Business Centre, Birtley, has applied for change of use permission to use the chapel as an office and store.
