Spennymoor have told the UniBond League that they won't be playing any more games this season - but they still haven't resigned.

The league has removed Moors from the fixture lists for the last fortnight of the season, and the league board who have been following FA advice, will decide what course of action to take when they meet on Sunday.

Moors still have nine games to play. They have already been fined around £5,000 for not fulfilling fixtures and deducted 12 points, but those measures are now felt by league officials to be insufficient.

The league has also been waiting to see if Moors owner Benny Mottram cuts his ties with the club, but time is running out.

No matter what decision follows - expulsion, suspension or another heavy fine -Mottram is determined to appeal.

Bishop Auckland's hopes of avoiding the drop suffered a blow when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Witton Albion.

Bishops' boss Brian Honour said: "Witton only had the one shot on target and they scored from it.

"I thought we played really well, but it just didn't happen for us. If we'd drawn I would still have been disappointed."

Bishops now face a crunch match against Marine on Wednesday at the Brewery Field. If Bishops lose against the fifth-bottom club they will finish in the bottom four.

Chris I'Anson and Steve Salvin were both denied by good saves from the Witton keeper in the first-half, then Mark Sheeran had a header cleared off the line early in the second-half.

Mike Moseley fired the winner for Witton with just five minutes remaining.

Gateshead are still hovering near the relegation zone after losing 1-0 to Farsley Celtic, Curtis Bernard scoring for the home side after just eight seconds.

Whitby's promotion hopes suffered a jolt when they lost 2-1 at Ossett Town, Karl Richards scoring for Whitby.
