POLICE are hunting a man who threatened a schoolgirl with a knife while demanding cash.
The attempted robbery happened at about 7.30am when the 15-year-old was walking to school along Durham Road, in Redcar East, yesterday.
Her assailant came out of an alleyway before confronting the youngster with a four-inch flick knife and threatening her.
The girl showed the man the empty contents of her purse before running away.
He is described as white, aged 25-30, 6ft, slim with a pale complexion, short dark cropped hair with thick gingery stubble and a long pointy chin.
Police said that the man was wearing a dark top.
