Double Dutchman Clyde Wijnhard has told his manager that it's pay-back time.

Two successful penalties on Saturday took the bustling centre-forward's tally to 15 goals this season, five coming in his last four matches since returning from a suspension.

And it's that ban, earned for a sending-off in the home win over Yeovil Town last month, and the recall to the team since suspension that drives him on to succeed he says.

He said: "I was suspended for three matches so I told the manager that I would make up for it. I missed games so the way to pay him back is to score goals.

"I missed three important games, they were even more important now when you consider how close it has become, we'll never know what would've happened had I played.

"The manager put me straight back into the team, he didn't have to, but he did so I want to repay him by scoring goals.

"For me it's more important that we win, I always want to score but if I don't and we still win then I am so happy."

The first spot-kick against Riushden, dispatched to the keeper's right, came in the 49th minute with the second coming just four minutes later. But unlike some penalty-takers Wijnhard never considered giving the task to a team-mate.

Alun Armstrong needs a goal, he's scored only once in his last 14 games, but asked if he considered allowing his goal-shy team-mate the opportunity of scoring from 12 yards Wijnhard responded with a question of his own: "Tell me who's the leading scorer at the club?"

He says he has no goal targets in mind but added: "I want to score the most goals and that's it. I've got 15 now but I want to score more, more, more!"

* Wijnhard's penalty brace on Saturday was the first time a Darlington player has scored twice from the spot in the same game since Marco Gabbiadini did it in a 4-0 win over Halifax Town in December 1999.
