WEEKLY coaching sessions are to be started again for young cricketers at Barnard Castle Cricket Club, which will field three junior teams during the coming season.
Young players who want to take part are being asked to register at the club tomorrow night between 6.30pm and 8pm.
The coaching will start the following Wednesday at the same times.
The junior teams playing during the summer will be in the under-11, under-13 and under-15 age groups, and some will get a chance to turn out for the Barnard Castle XI second team.
The club's development officer, John Walker, said: "We want to show children and their parents that cricket can be a lot of fun as well as a skilled, competitive game.
"Many parents are full of praise for what we are trying to do and are fully supportive of our efforts."
All the coaches taking part have reached an accredited level of coaching skill, but anyone else in the area who would like to help will be welcome at the sessions.
Eight juniors from the club - Tom Sparrow, Michael Dixon, Richard Borrowdale, Josh Bousfield, Stacey McKitton, Rebecca Morrell, Kirsty Hutchinson and Danielle Scarfe - have been selected to attend county coaching sessions.
Mr Walker added: "Our juniors are the future of cricket, and it is good to see so many doing well.
"We are proud of the way they represent us. They show themselves to be great ambassadors for the club and town."
